9. peer pressure to keep up with technology

we are affected by peer pressure everyday by people having a better phone or a better bike than you. in turn this makes you want that something new or when something new comes out. you know someone that you know is going to get it before you. then when you go to work or school you feel not able to talk about the given subject because you havent got the latest peice of technology and you feel left out. i personally have been affected by peer pressure because i have in the past had an ipod 1 and everyone had the newest ipod 4. i then got it and felt part of the group. then later i had a bike but i wanted to start t do bmx. i had a rubbish bike and then i invested my money in to getting a decent one.

the positive side to it is that people are almost more or less forced to get a new peice of technology to be able to continue with life because if someone didnt have an iphone 4 then they wouldnt be as organized because the iphone has reminders, alarms, notes and alot of apps that can help with your life. if you dont have it you will be left behind.

the negative side to it is that if you dont have a certain peice of technology like an ipod or a PS3 then you will not be able to talk about something like games or whats good about the ipod and whats bad about it. in turn you wouldnt be able to talk about something and then be left out. you would loose friends over it because their not their old self where they dont care about games and stuff.

the social side is that you potentially wont be able to talk to your friends without them bringing  up the subject of the new gadget. you then find it hard to make up things on the spot and then you feel bad. when you go back you have that ennoying thoughht in your head of what may happen to you and your life and eventually it gets to you.
